A book with the history of the most prestigious fashion magazine in the world re-proposed in a new 2012 edition, enriched with the most recent vintages and hundreds of covers and archive images tell the story of Vogue from its beginnings as a social gazette to to its evolution as an icon of style magazines. Thus these pages reproduce the works of some of the most important artists, illustrators and photographers of the twentieth century: Edward Steichen, Toni Frissel, Erwin Blumenfeld, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Annie Leibovitz, Mario Testino, Steven Klein , Bruce Weber and Herb Ritts. Thanks to meticulous research, the authors have collected comments from people such as Anna Wintour, current director of Vogue, Grace Mirabella, director from 1971 to 1988, Kohle Yohannan, writer and historian of art and design, as well as interviews with editors and photographers . Finally, the book is also enriched by an essay by Susan Sontag, who collaborated for a long time with the magazine, and by articles written by many world-famous personalities, including Truman Capote, Aldous Huxley, Richard Burton and Federico Fellini. The book is presented by an excellent preface by Franca Sozzani.
